Russell is a full blooded Jack Russell Terrier, and he was born October 23, 1993 (I was 13 yrs. old).  We received him two days before Christmas that same year.  Ever since then . . . my childhood, along with my sister's, and my parent's lives have been enlightened by Russell.  There is an interesting story behind Russell entering our lives . . .

Russell At My Parents' Place In Plano

Every little kid wants a puppy, and that of course included my sister and I.  My parents were always sort of against it (the mess, work, their culture, etc.).  My memory is a bit faded, so I am doing my best to tell this story from my recollection, but my father accidentally promised me that we could get a puppy.  He later kinda went back to being against it, but my Mom held him to it.  =)  [Thanks Mom.]  Instead of falling in love with the first cute puppy (like my sister and I surely would), my dad did some research and decided a Jack Russell Terrier would be the best choice for us.  And, at this point . . . they were gaining a lot of fame in showbusiness like, "The Mask," "Frasier," etc.  He searched for breeders and dogs with full papers and in great health . . . and, we landed somewhere at a breeder's place with a white puppy with a black spot on his eye, and Russell.  Needless to say, we picked Russell.  =)

Russell Eating His Purina 1

Even though my sister and I wholeheartedly promised to take care of the dog as much as we could, I think my parents got stuck with most of the work and got him potty trained real fast. (I was only 13, and she was 9.)  They also woke up very early everyday to take him out to the bathroom, etc.

He's been an extremely active and playful dog, but in his old age . . . he often doesn't like to be bothered outside of the occasional petting from family and taking out, etc.  He's still as noble, loyal, and cute as ever.  =)

He doesn't take to other dogs too well, so it took a little bit of getting used to when Toby moved in.  Toby was just a puppy, a few months old.  Eventually Russell started seeking after him like a parent . . . making sure he got first crack at treats, food, etc.  They loved playing together until I ended up taking Toby back to my place after I graduated from college.  There's more about this situation on the page I made up for Toby.

There is no doubt Russell's made all our lives a little brighter.
