My 180 Gallon "Texas River" Aquarium

Overview of the Aquarium & Stand (See: Dark & Lighted Picture)

When I purchased this aquarium, it was a preowned saltwater tank and of wood (not black appearance). I had it coated in black and clearcoat prior to setting it up, I also had a metal pan fabricated and painted to match . . . so that there would be a base to support filtration equipment and also catch minor leaks or spills. Click the following link to see this: Custom Fabricated Pan.

Some Of The Fish All Together

The pictures I have hear really don't do the aquarium justice, but I will be sure to take more, as soon as possible. I have always wanted to do a tank with fish that grow large, but I have never had an aquarium that was large enough to provide them the environment they need. However, now I do . . . so, let's start with the good stuff, here's what's in it:

Aquarium Inhabitants

1 Green Terror

3 Female Convict Cichlids

1 Tiger Oscar
10 Tiger Barbs

(See Another Picture)
3 Bala Sharks

1 Red Bellied Pacu

3 Silver Dollars

3 Tin Foil Barbs
3 Plecostamus

Previous Inhabitants of the Aquarium

2 Angelfish I Used To Have In This Tank. These fish were not the best fit for this aquarium.
1 Otto

This fish kept jumping into the wet/dry filterbox and preferred to stay there. No matter how many times I fished him out and put him back in the regular tank, he did not like to stay. Eventually, he died in the filterbox.

These fish (Silver Tipped Sharks) did not survive in the aquarium, I believe they prefer a brackish environment, which was unknown to me at the time of my purchase, I was misguided by the local fish store.

Thanks for visiting my website! As always, if you find any errors on this page or if you have any advice for me (I am always trying to become a better hobbyist.) . . . please let me know! I can be reached via E-Mail by clicking here at anytime!
